The Rotary Club of Belmont, after carrying out a survey of the area, agreed to sponsor a new Rotary Club in Highton towards the end of 1975.
This move was approved by District Governor Murray Mitchell and P.P. Ken Allen, of Belmont was appointed as his Special Representative.
With the help of P.D.G. and P.H.F Bill Sones, P.P. Ken formed an organising Committee with six other Rotarians.

The Organisation Dinner Meeting, held on November 6, 1975, saw thirty-one members and their wives introduced to Rotary.
The Inaugural Dinner Meeting of the Rotary Club of Highton took place on November 29, 1975.

The Club Charter was granted on December 6, 1975, and it was presented to the Club by D.G. Murray Mitchell on Charter Night, April 3, 1976.

Charter President Lawrie Miller accepted the Charter on behalf of the 31 Charter Members.

Ken Mansfield, a Charter member, is still actively involved in the Club that he helped to form over 40 years ago.
