My congratulations again to outgoing President Dave for his leadership during the past year, and in particular for the Changeover meeting. I understand he had help from Darcy, Ros and Ross in organizing all those guests and the events during the evening. Thanks to all involved.
As most of you now know, the attendance list for the night was kept from me, and l was certainly surprised and almost overwhelmed by so many of my close personal friends joining us for the meeting. Along with my son Zac and my partner Michael, we had many former Rotarians from our club, some Rotarians from other clubs, and many of our husbands, wives, partners and friends of the club.
It was a very special occasion and indeed testament to the year we had with Dave, and the strength of our club as we enter 2016-2017.
The night included the award of Honorary Membership to PDG Alf Swan – a fitting tribute to an outstanding Rotarian.
AG Ross Taylor presented a District Award to the club on behalf of outgoing DG Jane Cox. It is an Environmental and Heritage Project Award for the work Anne Cox and Eeon Macauley did by inserting an environmental section into the Rotary Junior Community Awards. Congratulations!
The evening was our last club meeting at Lyndon Grove, and President Dave acknowledged this and thanked them in his address.
My thanks to Paul Brewster for all his work in putting together the Annual Report and Blue Books, which were distributed on Thursday. There are more copies available if you missed out.
Our first meeting for 2016-2017 is a trial meeting at The Grovedale Hotel, in the Terrace Room. Please come along and help us make an informed decision as to where we next meet.
The new program team – Di Pearce, Graham Blood and Colin Bayliss – are the speakers for the meeting, and they have titled their presentation “ Wine, Wit, Wisdom and Chocolates”. Goodness knows what they in store for us!
See you there
