Last Thursdays breakfast meeting at 7:00am gave a good opportunity to hear Pam Carroll and Linda Kelly relate their experience at the Rotary Leadership Institute.  They enjoyed the RLI experience and were very appreciative of the Club making the opportunity available.  They also encouraged other members to attend RLI in future as a wonderful opportunity to experience the depth and breadth of Rotary’s world of influence.

Pam also summarized her experience at the recent District Conference which she enjoyed immensely.  Linda spoke also of her work at recruiting 15 Rotary Youth Leadership Award participants from around Geelong.  She will take 6 of these participants to the camp at Kangaroobi near Princetown on Easter Monday, and will participate in camp activities with the students over the following 5 days.  Great work by both Pam and Linda.

We also heard a number of reports from participants at the recent District Conference in Maryborough.  It was a resounding success and an inspiration to all our participants.

Please consider sponsoring our intrepid cyclists in the ‘Ride the Bellarine’ event on 19th April.  Consider also making a donation to The Rotary Foundation in support of this appeal – remember The Gates Foundation donates $2 for every $1 you donate.

Please keep Anne Cox in your thoughts and prayers for her recent loss of her brother.

Regards,
Ian C

Are you aware that the State Government has a free Halogen downlight replacement program.
This is not a gimmick as I have just had 27  50 watt downlights replaced with 6.5 watt LED ones – by a licensed installer – absolutely free!
Details on leaflet  below. In my case my downlights used 1350 watts (a lot of this going in wasted heat into the ceiling space) compared to the replacements  using only 175 watts (which run cool).
Not only do you reduce your power bill you are helping to reduce atmospheric CO2.

NOTE THAT THE ADVERT BELOW IS INTENDED TO SHOW THAT THE SCHEME REALLY EXISTS, NOT TO ADVERTISE THIS PARTICULAR COMPANY. THERE ARE MANY WHO ARE PROVIDING THE SERVICE - YOU MAY EVEN HAVE SEEN THE ADVERTS ON TV AND WONDERED WHAT THE CATCH IS - THERE ISN'T ONE !!!!!

This week's easy - there aren't any birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate. So we'll just have to celebrate the fact that we belong to a great Rotary Club !!

Do you have any chocolate left over after Easter. If yes then take heart from the following

The Rules of Chocolate

If you get melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.

Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

The problem: How to get two pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car.
The solution: Eat it in the parking lot.

Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal.
It'll take the edge off your appetite and you'll eat less.

A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn't that handy?

If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you?

Why is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous?
Because no one wants to quit.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done.

Chocolate is a health food. Chocolate is derived from cacao beans. Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived either from sugar beets or cane, both vegetables. And, of course, the milk/cream is dairy. So eat more chocolate to meet the dietary requirements for daily vegetable and dairy intake.
